Hawaii Active Friends 4 Day Tour
Our four day three night active friends tour is the perfect solution for the person that wants to take some time to really explore the island. We snorkel on the west side, hike and camp inside Volcanoes National Park, visit Puna for warm water pools, hike to waterfalls and untouched forests before heading back for camping on the beach for one night and then lots of extra beach time and boogie boarding. Four days are needed so we can fit in all of these fun activities. Highlights include: Volcanoes National Park, East coast waterfalls, camping on the beach on the west coast and boogie boarding with boards we provide. The trip: Our day begins with some beaches that often make the list of top ten beaches in the world. Dream of a land where the sand is white and the water is a crystal clear blue? Let us take you there. Lunch is served at the beach, the best way to enjoy local fruit and products is in the environment in the land where they are made. We may be able to spot whales from December to April and lets look for some hono (turtle in Hawaiian). Walking to the fields of Petroglyphs you are taken back to a different time when Hawaiians were connected to the land in many ways and their mana (power) was strong. The sunsets on these beaches are amazing and will give you pictures to make friends jealous for years to come. If the sea is cooperating we will be donning the snorkel gear and exploring the world under the surface. These beaches are the reason so many people continue to visit this beautiful island. We will cook dinner together and set up tents for a time of Ukulele playing and telling good stories at the end of a full day. Sleep with the stars overhead and the sound of the waves to lull you to sleep. Breakfast is served fresh under blue sky with ocean view. Time to heat up and enjoy the light trade winds. After a ride through different climatic zones and a vast landscape I will take you into a rainforest. It is time to put on the hiking gear and tune in with the sights and sounds of the lush green. On a hike we will explore endemic and native species and look out for wild pigs. There is a small, serene park in the forest, the best place to enjoy the handmade lunch Next stop history. Let’s see if you have what it takes to become the next king of Hawaii. Time to jump in the pool. On the way to a big, black, natural infinity pool at the end of the single lane road we will see waterfalls, orchids and banjan trees. Listen to the sound of the waves and grab the snorkeling gear to observe life under the surface. Basecamp is around the corner. After setting up the tents and cooking dinner, it is time for the hot tub, a naturally heated pool. After sunset, the nightsky is filled with stars and I invite you to find some constellations. On this side of the island it is the place to watch the sunrise as it happens. The breakfast buffet is open and the tide pools are a good place to start the day in the water. Lava trees are close and lead us the way to Volcanoes National Park. In the park, we will refill our fresh water supplies with filtered rainwater and explore the life circle of this volcanic island and see why ginger plants can be harmful to this environment. We will hike through pitch black lava tubes, visit the steam vents and explore the sulfur banks before we arrive at our next trail head. After lunch in the shade, it is time to hike across newer lava flows, explore craters, cinder cones and see Hawaiian Petroglyphs. We will spend the night in the park after cooking dinner and setting up the tents. The next day we will leave the park after breakfast and head to the next historic site, Captain Cook. We will learn why the explorer has his own monument and discover the ancient Place of Refuge. There is a beautiful beach nearby and this will be the place where we prepare lunch. After lunch, it is time to get wet again. We will stop at one of the nicest reefs and explore the coast from the water. For you to discover are star fish, squid, puffer fish, baracudas, discus fish, snapper, parrot fish, moray eels, sting rays and more of the estimated 230,000 species in the water.
