About this Tour

Discover the medieval town of Alba, today known as one of the Gourmet capital of Italy, home of many precious red wines (Barolo, Barbaresco, Dolcetto, just to mention few), white truffles, hometown of Pietro Ferrero who invented here Nutella. Alba has ancient origins and during this walking tour we discover some of the Roman ruins, the medieval towers and palaces, gothic and baroque art. Inside S.Lorenzo cathedral we admire a carved and inlaid choir dating 1512. We stop at S.Domenico church, the oldest one in town, to see frescoes made in the XIV century and at S.Giovanni church where it's permanently exposed a painting of the most famous artist from Alba, known as Macrino, who lived at the end of the XV century. The walking tour balance history, art and several stops to gourmet shops, to understand how the local cuisine is strictly linked to the local territory.
