Kampa Museum Tour

Prague during communism
Czech country used to be rich and developed, but then arrived the communist era - for 40 years. In this walking tour I will show you the most important places connected with communist era as Wenceslas square or Old town square, I will tell you something about our dark history of 20th century. We will walk through these times so you can understand how was the life here and how it is nowadays. And if you want we can after take the beer in Propaganda pub which take us to the history with its outfit. Starting hours during the weekends can also change according to your desire.
Grand Prague city tour
This unique tour starts by the art nouveau Municipal Palace. Then we would continue through the Powder Tower in the footsteps of the ancient coronation processes down the Celetna street towards the Old Town square with the famous Astronomical clock. After a short stroll we would get to the magnificent gothic Charle's bridge. Passing across the bridge would take us to the Lesser Town where we would finish the first part of our tour by visiting the Church of Our Lady Victory in which the world famous statue of the Infant Jesus of Prague is maintained. Than we would take short romantic tram ride to the Prague Castle where the tour continues. After a thorough visit of the Prague Castle complex including the gothic pearl St. Vitus Church the tour leads us down the famous Nerudova street to the Lesser Town Square with the beautiful baroque St. Nicholas church. There the tour ends.
Prague Overview
I will meet you in your hotel or the accommodation of your choice and then I take you up to the Prague Castle by public transportation. This area was first settled already during the Bronze Age, however, the first documented dwellings were built here in the 9th century. It was the home of our kings and queens for many years. Now it houses the office of the president of the Czech Republic, several museums, the St. Vitus Cathedral, the Royal Palace and more. We will walk through this “Hradčany” district viewing the Loreto, the Archbishops Palace and other interesting areas along the way to the castle. There we visit part of the St. Vitus Cathedral, walk along the 3 courtyards and admire the architectural marvel that our ancestors created. Then we walk down through the Little Quarter (erroneously called the Lesser Quarter in some literature), if you are interested, we visit the Infant Jesus of Prague, walk over the Charles Bridge via the coronation route to the Old Town Square, view the Astronomical Clock, go up the Old Town Square Tower for a magnificent view (elevator) and end on Wenceslas Square, the new part of town, "only" 600 years old. The Left Bank (Castle Area)
Using public transportation, we will begin by touring the Strahov Monastery which overlooks the entire city. We will then explore the Loreto pilgrimage site and a picturesque neighborhood of the New World, discovered by Prague artists in the early 1900s. These narrow, cobbled lanes take us to the Archbishop`s Palace and, eventually, to the Prague Castle. This “city within the city” hides the St. Vitus Cathedral, Old Royal Palace, Basilica of St. George, Golden Lane and Royal Garden. Looking down from the Castle terrace, we cannot wait to visit all the sites below us: the dome of St. Nicholas Church and the Church of Our Lady Victorious where the statue of Infant Jesus of Prague is on display, the Wallenstein Garden with its mysterious grotto and peacocks walking around and the streets of the Little Quarter leading to the Charles Bridge.
The Right Bank (Old Town, Jewish Quarter, New Town Area)
Old Town Square, the heart of Prague`s historic center, includes numerous memorable sites, most notably the famed Astronomical Clock, the pure Gothic Tyn Church and the Jan Hus memorial. From the square, we will head past the old building of Charles University, one of the oldest in Europe, to the Estates Theatre where Mozart`s opera Don Giovanni was first performed. The Jewish Quarter is situated between the river and the square and its well preserved synagogues, old cemetery and Franz Kafka`s birthplace make it one of the most interesting areas of the city. The New Town was founded in the 14th century but most of it was modernized. The main attraction here is Wenceslas Square, Prague`s former horse market. This historic boulevard with its numerous stalls, restaurants, Art Nouveau hotels as well as quaint parks and arcades in its vicinity is the very center of the modern city.
The Prague Jewish Quarter
Before the Holocaust, Prague was one of the most important centers of the European Diaspora. That's why the world`s largest museum of Jewish ritual articles and culture is here, even though the fate of Prague's Jewish community became grim and tragic. This walking tour takes you past the Jewish Quarter`s six synagogues, including the Old-New Synagogue (one of the oldest monuments of the European Jewish heritage), the Old Cemetery and its Ceremonial Hall, and the birthplace of Franz Kafka. You can visit the interiors of the monuments if you wish to do so, because your guide is licensed by the Prague Jewish Museum. Please note: an optional visit to The Jewish Museum (four synagogues plus the cemetery) requires a separate entrance fee of CZK 300 (18 U.S. dollars) per person. Visiting just the Old-New Synagogue requires a separate entrance fee of CZK 200 ( 12 U.S. dollars) per person.
